EasyPower Lite

The new EasyPower Lite software is intended for our digital lab power supplies of series PSI 8000T/DT/2U, PS 8000 T/DT/2U, PSI 800 R and PSI 9000 series. It requires one of the EA interface cards IF-R1/R2 (RS232, 1 unit), IF-U1/U2 (USB) or IF-E1/E2 (via the additional USB port). EasyPower Lite is also included on the CD that comes with the interface cards package. This download version is identical. The software is labview based and requires the LabView runtime engine which is automatically installed with the software. Click on the pictures to the left for screenshots.

The other interface cards IF-C1 and IF-G1, are not compatible with EasyPower Lite.

Hardware requirements:

  • Windows XP/2003/Vista
  • PC with mind. 512MB RAM
  • approx. 150MB hard drive space
  • Lab power supply with interface card

The software offers following functions:

  • Monitoring and control of one device per running instance
  • Read actual values of current, voltage and power
  • Switch power output on/off
  • Device condition (errors, output, regulation mode)
  • Read device type string and read/edit user text
  • Adjust current/voltage/power set values
  • Activate/deactivate remote control
  • Load and run automated sequences from CSV file (current, voltage and time)
  • Data acquisition with actual and set values, date, time and condition to CSV file
  • Graphical display of the chronological progression of actual and set values

What is a sequence?
A sequence is a list of set values, together with a time. The user can define a set value for power, voltage and current and a time from 0,5s to 100h in a single line of a CSV file (exported from Excel or OpenOffice Calc). The number of line is virtually unlimited. When runing a sequence from that file, that device is automatically controlled by the software, executing the sequence file line-by-line. The time defines the distance between two steps. If a set value is changed from one step to the next, it is instantly set with the next step. The software or the device will not generate a ramp!

What does data acquisition log to file?
It logs actual values (U/I/P), set values (U/I/P), device status and a timestamp with date into a text file of type CSV (entries are spearated by semicolons). The interval is settable.

The package contains the software in english language, as well as a user manual in german and english. At questions or problems please contact us by mail to ea1974elektroautomatik.de or by the contact form (see above).

Drivers

USB driver for IF-U1/IF-U2/IF-E1/IF-E2

Note: contains drivers for Windows 98/ME, XP/Vista and Windows 7 (32 & 64bit). The driver is a combined driver. It means, it can work as a true USB driver and it creates a COM port for every USB port of an interface card that is installed, which then can be accessed as a RS232 interface.
This virtual COM port (VCP) is activated by default after the installation! It can to be deactivated in the driver setup dialogue (Windows device manager), if only the USB functionality is required.

EasySoft Update Tool

The EasySoft update tool is used for manual firmware updates on site. The user just installs the application on Windows and then only needs the firmware file (not included), which is obtainable here for the particular device. Following device series and interface cards are compatible for updates:

  • PSI 8000 T / DT / 2U
  • PSI 9000
  • PSI 800 R
  • EL 3000
  • EL 9000
  • EL 9000 HP
  • PS 8000 T / DT / 2U
  • IF-G1
  • IF-E1/IF-E1b

Restrictions:

  • Updating devices is only possible with an USB or RS232 interface card ( IF-Ux, IF-Ex or IF-Rx)!
  • The interface card IF-G1 can not be used to update a device!

Minimum requirements:

  • PC with Windows XP or newer, 512MB RAM, approx. 150MB harddrive space, 1x COM-Port or 1x USB
  • Device with interface card and proper cable (e.g. null modem cable, not included)

Attention! Please update versions prior to 3.03, in order to avoid problems with newer firmware files.

EasySoft Update Tool 3.05 (110MB) *

*LabView based, installs a runtime engine and services. The services may be deactivated, if not used otherwise.

Firmware files:

Note: Select the proper file according to the series your device is from (e.g. PSI 8160-04 R --> series PSI 800 R). Do not try to unpack the file, just open it in the update tool as it is!

Vector dbc

For the device models as listed below, DBC files for Vector CAN software or compatible software is available.

Please pay attention to these notes:

  • Every device requires its own DBC file, because it contains translation factors for current, voltage, power and resistance
  • The software usually allows to load multiple DBC files
  • All DBC have default message IDs, which have to be adjusted by the user according to the base ID settings on the device(s)
  • Read the documentation that is included with the DBC file
  • The DBC supports the basic functions of the device by default, further commands can be added by the user
  • Some device models are very similar, like for example PS 8080-60 T and PS 8080-60 DT, but in the DBC for the T model the support for setting the power is not given, but can added for a DT afterwards
  • The DBCs for PS models can be generally used for the same models of the PSI series, but would the lack the support for internal resistance adjustment (where unlocked)

For models not listed below, please request. The DBC will be generated, e-mailed and published here.
