The new series PS 8000 3U extends the previous series PS 8000 2U by 18 new models with power ratings of 3.3kW up to 15kW in 19" rack enclosures and 3U height, also configurable into cabinet systems of up to 150kW and up to 42U upon customer requirements.

All models are equipped with a flexible auto-ranging output stage which provides a higher output voltage at lower output current, or a higher output current at lower output voltage, always limited to the max. nominal output power.  Therefore, a wide range of applications can already be covered by the use of just one single unit.

Output voltages between 40V and 1500V, output currents between 30A and 5100A and output power ratings between 5kW and 150kW are available. The 40V models are made to meet the requirements of the low-voltage directive.

All important information is clearly visualised on a matrix display. Information about the actual output values, preset set values for U, I, P, over- and undervoltage protection, the actual control state (CV,CC,CP), errors and settings of the setup menu are clearly displayed. In order to simplify adjustment of values by the featured rotary knobs, it can be switched between coarse and fine setting mode just by a key stroke. All these features contribute to an operator-friendliness. With a LOCK button the controls can be locked, in order to protect the equipment and the load from unintentional misuse.
There are terminals for Sharebus operation available on the rear panel. Thus the devices can be integrated into a complete system without much effort.

For remote control the device by default features an internal analogue interface, which is not galvanically isolated. Alternatively, it can be monitored and controlled by various digital and retrofittable interfaces. Since October 2011 there is a galvanically isolated analogue interface available, which is optional and built-in by default, replacing the standard analogue interface.
